Sweet Brown Sugar Ham Steak and Crash Hot Potatoes Recipe
What can I say, I am a huge sucker for ham. Love it any way it's cooked. Today's recipes are for Sweet Ham Steak and Crash Hot Potatoes. This is the first time I've tried either of these recipes, and they both turned out great!
First let's start out with the ham.
You need:
1 bone-in fully cooked ham steak (2 pounds)
4 Tbsp butter, cubed
4 Tbsp brown sugar
Directions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ham steak on both sides; drain. Remove ham. In the same skillet, melt the butter; stir in brown sugar. Return ham to skillet; cook until heated through, turning often. Yield: 6-8 servings.
I rate this recipe 5 out of 5 stars! The brown sugar and butter sauce makes the ham taste amazing and cuts down on the saltiness. I also cracked fresh pepper on top! Yum!
Now onto the potatoes. This recipe was found once again, browsing Pinterest! I love that site, it is my virtual recipe box!
You need:
12-15 baby red potatoes
1 Tbsp olive oil (I use sunflower oil, tastes amazing and great health benefits as well)
sea salt and fresh cracked pepper
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Boil the potatoes for 10-15 minutes or until fork tender. Place on a cooking sheet coated with cooking spray or drizzled with olive oil. Place the potatoes on the baking sheet and with a potato masher, gently smash each potato. Drizzle with olive oil, sea salt and pepper (add a bit of your favorite dry herbs if you like).
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until crisp and golden brown. Eat plain or top with a little sour cream and green onions.
I rate this recipe 5 out of 5 stars as well! I love the crispy, browned flavor in the potatoes and it's a great way to mix it up from typical potato recipes.
