Salmon Pesto Cream Tortellini Recipe

Dinner is ready in less than 20 minutes with this creamy and cheesy pasta recipe! The flavors come from lemon zest, tomatoes and delicious parmesan cheese! This is sure to be a new favorite comfort food!

After making it many times over the years, I'm finally giving this post a much needed update!
This recipe is defintely tried and true, and always turns out fantastic!
My friend, Shannon introduced this recipe to me over 10 years ago. A few years after that, I got the recipe from her and started making it on my own.
I knew when I saw the salmon and pesto in my pantry, that I had to whip up this recipe and take some new photos.
I'm so glad I did! I often forget how much I love older recipes that are posted here and making it a goal to make and update more of them.
The sauce for this recipe couldn't be any easier.
Just prep and whisk together a few simple ingredients and in a few minutes, it's ready to serve!
I love using tortellini or ravioli with different fillings, but I opted for basic cheese tortellini this time.
We love to serve with some toasted garlic bread and a light salad with vinaigrette. Top off the pasta with some fresh parsley for a pop of extra flavor.
I just love the lemon zest in the sauce. It adds a bright and light pop of flavor in each bite and it goes perfectly with the richness of the sauce.
You could substitute tuna for the salmon if you have that on hand instead.

Salmon Pesto Cream Tortellini (Print Here)

Ingredients (2 servings)
- 1- 9 ounce package refrigerated cheese tortellini
- 1/3 cup basil pesto
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
- 1/8 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1- 5 ounce pouch boneless, skinless salmon
- 1 cup grape tomatoes, sliced in half
- 1 1/2 tablespoon toasted pine nuts (optional)
- grated parmesan cheese
- pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
Cook tortellini according to package directions, drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, whisk together pesto, sour cream, heavy whipping cream, lemon zest, salt and pepper.
Heat slowly on low, stirring constantly.
Add tomatoes and gently flake in salmon. Heat through.
Divide tortellini and sauce between 2 plates and top with parmesan and pine nuts.
